Homemade Salisbury steak With Mushroom Gravy Old Fashioned salisbury Steak

What is Salisbury steak?

One of my favorite foods that never goes out of style. It's easy to make, cheap, and very popular with kids and adults! This home version is much better than the freezer section of the grocery store. Salisbury makes the yellowest meat patties to make a steak.

I like to use mostly lean ground beef because it tastes great but it is low in fat. The meat is seasoned with bread crumbs and then made into an oval "stack". The patties are cooked until golden brown, and the gravy is made with onions, mushrooms, beef broth, and a little corn starch.

Corn starch is used to thicken the gravy. I often use white button mushrooms, but other types of mushrooms such as creamy mushrooms would also be a good choice. I use pre-cut mushrooms to save preparation time.

How to make Salisbury steak with mushroom gravy?

This homemade Salisbury stack recipe is easy to put together. Cooking meat and vegetables in the same pan make the gravy more palatable.

Blend Steak Ingredients:

First, place the crushed onions in a bowl and add the Panko pieces and stir. Then add the beef, garlic, egg, ketchup, mustard powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper and mix with your hands.

Cook Steaks:

Mix the mixture into oval patties. Put 2 tablespoons of olive oil in the pan and heat over low heat. Put beef patties in hot oil and cook for 5 minutes. Now turn these patties over and cook for another 5 to 6 minutes. Be careful when turning the patties to prevent breakage.

Now remove the patties from the pan and set them aside. Put the pan back on the burner, and add a tablespoon of olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add finely chopped onion and cook for 1 minute. Then add garlic and mushrooms and cook for 4 to 5 minutes, or until mushrooms are tender.

Make Gravy:

Put your butter in a pan and let it melt. Sprinkle flour on butter and vegetables and cook for about 30 seconds. Now put it in beef broth and stir until everything is well mixed and no lumps remain.

Thicken Gravy:

Put the beef patties and any juice back in the skeleton and cook for another 5 minutes, or until gravy is thick. (If the gravy gets too thick, add a little water to the pan.)

TIPS AND TRICKS.

This is such a simple recipe, it is sure to become your favorite dish if you follow these tips!

Shaping:

Wet your hands with water to prevent the mixture from sticking, be careful not to over-work the patties. This is how the beef hardens.

Make it Gluten-Free:

You can use corn starch instead of butter and flour if you want! Make sauce without butter and flour. Add a tablespoon of corn starch and a tablespoon of water to the sauce and boil until thickened.

Turkey Steaks:

This dish can be made with ground turkey but I do not recommend ground turkey breast. It is very lean.
